How to switch games on one game server

Change your ASPEC Hosting server from one game to another, such as Minecraft to Terraria or Garry's Mod to S&box, without buying a new plan.

You rent capacity, not a single game

An ASPEC Hosting server is a plan (memory, storage and CPU class), a location and a billing cycle. The game you choose at checkout is only the first installation. Your plan, location, server code and invoice stay the same when you change games.

Changing the game

From the control panel, open your server and choose Game / Reinstall. Then:

  • Pick the new game. Games your plan cannot run are refused with the reason, such as not enough memory.
  • Choose what happens to the current game's files: erase them, or keep an archive record so you can come back to that game later.
  • Type your server code (it starts with GS-) to confirm. Changing games is destructive, so we ask you to confirm it explicitly.

What happens next

The change runs as a background job. Your previous game stays as the current install until the new one succeeds, so a failed change never leaves you with a broken server. The new game is shown as active only after the install completes.

Files from one game are never loaded into another. Each game keeps its own data paths.

Popular switches

Groups on Standard often swap between lighter games such as Minecraft and Terraria. Garry's Mod communities moving to S&box can switch on the same Performance or Extreme plan. The larger the plan, the more of our library it can run.
